Now more than ever, we're reminded of what an incredible community we have. It's been our privilege to provide you with food, fashion, fun, family, entertainment, events, and memories for the last 40 years.Return to the Blog
In 1978, property developer Harry Daum began working on plans for Bozeman’s first shopping mall. After numerous challenges and setbacks, Daum made this dream a reality and Gallatin Valley Mall (formerly the “Main Mall”) first opened its doors to the community forty years ago on May 8, 1980.
As we reopened GVM’s doors after the COVID-19 closure, we considered that we may be facing many of the same challenges that Daum encountered all those years ago. How are we going to best serve our customers and community?
As the economy recovers and we continue to practice social distancing, we can expect things will look a little different for a while. Pre COVID-19, GVM was a gathering place for the community, and our goal was to welcome in as many community members as possible. We look forward to the day we can safely do that again, but until then we will continue to welcome customers in smaller numbers and host events that allow for social distancing, often taking place in our parking lot!
Last month, we hosted a Meat & Potato Giveaway generously made possible by Shepherd's Heart Ministries. Thousands of community members came through the GVM Parking Lot to pick up a bag of locally grown potatoes and ground beef. Stay tuned for more info coming soon on a second mass food giveaway that we are working on hosting later this summer!
We're also partnering with both American Red Cross and Vitalant/ United Blood Services as a donation site. These services are experiencing severe blood shortages nationwide and locally. We invite you to share your good health and register to give blood at GVM! Learn more here.
Currently we're launching the Best of 406 Marketplace at Gallatin Valley Mall! The Marketplace showcases local vendors selling unique items that are handmade, grown, created, built, or improved in the 406. Many small, local businesses have experienced economic challenges as a result of COVID-19. We've created a space in our shopping center where we can support those businesses by giving them a home base to sell their products. Our goal is simple- to keep our local economy alive and strong. We hope our community enjoys shopping the unique offerings of the Marketplace and joins in helping us support our local economy and workforce. Learn more about the Marketplace here.
Keep an eye on our events page for more events like a Girl Scout Cookie Drive Thru, Bike Rodeo, RV & Boat Show, and much more coming later this summer!
Our emphasis has shifted to not only creating a safe environment that our customers can still enjoy, but also being a resource for our community during this difficult time. We are committed to staying #BozemanStrong and are confident that our business, employees, and customers will come out on the other side of the crisis stronger than ever. We believe that out of adversity, opportunity and innovation is born, and we couldn't be more excited for our future and the next 40 years.
